ABOUT THE PROJECT: |
| |
The Jyotisar Tourism project is an effort by the Sehgal Foundation under the ‘Endogenous Tourism Project’ of UNDP (United Nations Development Progaramme) and Ministry of Tourism. The Project has been divided into two parts viz. Hardware and Software. The hardware part involves setting up of the Tourism complex being undertaken by the District Commissioner’s office in Jyotisar and the Software part being furthered by the Sehgal. Foundation. The foundation has actively imparted guide training, constituted a theatre group and empowered the rural women to produce handicrafts that can go a long way in boosting their income levels.
The Tourist complex is based on similar business model as Dilli Haat. Besides an ethnic ambience, it has an inbuilt roof water harvesting mechanism, a food court, craft production center, leisure activities like boating in the surrounding Jyotisar temple area. |
