Nasru Gets a New Life Kamlesh, a Project Implementation Team member from the Foundation was on a door to door visit informing the families living in Chehalka about the Family Life Education classes, when she came across Naseeruddin (Nasru), a frail and very ill looking young man of 33 years. He is a poor laborer with a large family of 8 children to feed. Nasru came to know about the Foundation's health activities and earnestly requested Kamlesh to help him come out of his misery of cough and fever, which he had been suffering for the last three months. Nasru said he had not been able to earn a living and his family had not had a decent meal in days. He also mentioned that he had been to Mohammedpur PHC where he was not examined properly. Kamlesh, who had been intensively trained in health issues, had a look at his thin figure and immediately suspected it to be a case of TB. He looked too weak to live longer; she acted quick and personally took him to the PHC, filled in the necessary details and got a sputum examination. Her speculation turned positive, Nasru was diagnosed as TB patient and was put on treatment immediately. Kamlesh also met his wife and explained about Nasru's condition and the care that needs to be taken during his treatment. After one month when Kamlesh went for a visit to Chehalka, Nasru came to meet and thank her. She was amazed to see the difference in his appearance, in such a short period. When enquired about his health, he said, he has to continue the treatment for few more months but presently he was feeling very good, to an extent that he could resume work, a hard labor of cutting stones and earning Rs.100 to 125 per day. He blessed Kamlesh saying that her efforts had given him a new life and that he would be indebted to her all his life. Even today, when Kamlesh visits Chehalka, Nasru is always there to greet her with folded hands and a blessing for her. For further information please contact: The Sehgal Foundation
