]]> A rural employment law will ultimately be judged by what people experience.

  • A worker should be able to find work when it is needed.
  • A panchayat should have the capacity to plan according to the village’s priorities.
  • And a community should be left with more than a completed worksite—the result should be an asset that continues to serve people.

Wherever the ideas of employment security, Panchayati Raj, and sustainable rural development meet will be that measure.

The VB-G RAM G Act has created a new framework. The harder task now is to make that framework function in thousands of villages, each with its own needs, resources, and challenges.

The true success of the transition will depend on the rules issued in New Delhi and on how effectively workers, panchayats, state governments, and communities will be able to transform those rules into meaningful development on the ground.
