Stories of Change
Ramesh, a farmer, received PoP kit, a mix of micronutrients, organic manure, and other farm inputs, along with step-by-step guidance from sowing to harvest. He used this method on his tomato crop. Earlier, he got about 14.5 tonnes per acre. This time, he harvested 19 tonnes. Ramesh said. “The help I got made a big difference. I’ll keep using this method and tell other farmers too.”

Partnership Highlights
MoU with IARI-ICAR
On June 6, 2025, S M Sehgal Foundation launched a five-year partnership with the Indian Agricultural Research Institute (IARI-ICAR) to advance the SMSF mandate to introduce innovations in agriculture for rural India. Within this collaboration, SMSF cross-functional scientific teams will test low-cost, scalable agricultural technologies. These pilots will inform field replication and serve as demonstration platforms for visiting farmer groups and partners. Read more…

SMSF and UBL Partner to Rejuvenate Water Bodies in Rural India
As the climate crisis deepens, droughts are becoming increasingly frequent and severe, especially in rural India where water scarcity threatens livelihoods and daily survival. In response, S M Sehgal Foundation, in partnership with United Breweries Limited (UBL), is leading efforts to revive traditional water bodies such as ponds and tanks. This on-the-ground collaboration is improving groundwater recharge, restoring local ecosystems, and fighting climate change in some of India’s most water-stressed communities.

Anjali Makhija at MCAD

At the recent Modernization of Command Area Development (MCAD) scheme workshop organized by the Ministry of Jal Shakti, Department of Water Resources, RD & GR, Govt. of India, in collaboration with national and international partners, Anjali Makhija, CEO and trustee of S M Sehgal Foundation, contributed to a session hosted by the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO). Her remarks focused on recurring challenges in ensuring community ownership of Water User Associations (WUAs), especially in rural areas where participation often remains on paper.

Ministry of Jal Shakti Team Visits School Project in Alwar
A technical team from the Ministry of Jal Shakti visited the Government Upper Primary School in Madanpuri to review rainwater harvesting and school transformation work. Facilitated by SMSF team and local officials, the visit included a detailed walk-through of the water system and other sustainability efforts on campus.

Field Training
S M Sehgal Foundation team organized a capacity-building training in Mahendragarh, Haryana. Farmers and participants learned about water-saving techniques and how to measure their impact. The session also introduced important ideas such as regenerative farming, DSR, biochar, carbon credits, and GHG emissions.

Field Visit Offers Interns a Firsthand Look at Rural Development
A group of interns and team members, including Morgan from Iowa State University, joined the S M Sehgal Foundation team for a hands-on field visit across villages in Nuh, Haryana. Starting in Nasirbas, the group met local farmers and discussed fertilizer practices. In Malab, they saw a rainwater harvesting system in action. The visit continued to the Community Information and Support Centre (CISC) in Nuh Town, then went on to Bhiraawati, where they toured a restored pond and a new primary school, both built with the foundation’s support.

Yoga Day 2025
On International Yoga Day, CR Connect FM 107.8 aired a special live session with Swami Ganeshanand Ji, sharing practical insights on yoga’s role in building balance and focus. Callers from Alwar and beyond joined in for guidance and inspiration.
