  • Position: Assistant Program Leader, Agriculture Development (South India)

    Reports to: Director-Water Management

    Location: Hyderabad, Telangana/Andhra Pradesh

    Qualification and Experience

    1. Diploma/B.Sc./B.Tech in Civil Engineering or Bachelor in Environmental Sciences from a reputed national /state agriculture university
    2. Minimum 3-5 years’ experience of working on rural water management and wastewater projects and experience as a trainer will be an advantage
    3. Strong project management and community mobilization skills
    4. Experience of working with NGO’s/ development sector will be an advantage
    5. Willingness to travel, stay and work in rural areas as per need
    6. Familiar with the local language, culture, water management issues in Southern India
    7. The candidate must have good communication skills in English and Telugu. Working knowledge of Hindi is preferable.
    8. Basic knowledge of computers- MS Office and Internet

    Key Responsibilities

    1. Coordinate and monitor the smooth implementation of activities related to infrastructure development projects related to water and sanitation
    2. Ensure deliverables are achieved in compliance with targets and procedures while ensuring high-quality standards
    3. Prepare project proposals along with the budget, bills of quantity (BOQ) and drawings
    4. Plan and design infrastructure development activities in villages in accordance with the needs of the community
    5. Conduct regular field visits to monitor and supervise field locations and ensure that quality standards are being adhered to.
    6. Develop and update curriculum for organizing training of field staff to enhance their professional skills
    7. Develop training modules and organize training programs for different stakeholders on water management technologies promoted by S M Sehgal Foundation
    8. Prepare regular narrative on the projects and manage project MIS
    9. Prepare the budget, financial reports, and manage the expenditure of the projects efficiently.
    10. Coordinate with the finance & administration department regarding invoices, contracts, payments, and fund utilization certificates
    11. Coordinate and facilitate partner visits to Sehgal Foundation and/or project sites
    12. Any other responsibility assigned by management as per the requirement of the organization.

    1. Bachelor/Master degree in Agriculture with specialization in agronomy, soil science, extension/horticulture or any other related discipline from a reputed national /state agriculture university
    2. Minimum 3-5 years' experience of working in the field directly with farmers in agriculture development projects especially in southern India
    3. Strong project management and community mobilization skills
    4. Experience of working with NGO's/ development sector will be an advantage
    5. Willingness to travel, stay and work in rural areas as per need
    6. Familiar with the local language, culture, agricultural practices, and related issues in Southern India
    7. The candidate must have good communication skills in English and Telugu. Working knowledge of Hindi is preferable.
    8. Basic knowledge of computers- MS Office and Internet

    Key Responsibilities

    1. Lead the ongoing agriculture development projects in South India
    2. Provide technical support and training to the team members and farmers on-farm management practices in a designated area according to project requirements.
    3. Supervise, guide, and mentor team members responsible for designing and implementing agriculture and allied activities in the field.
    4. Prepare or support in the development of project proposals particularly for components related to agriculture and allied activities
    5. Prepare regular narrative on the projects and manage project MIS
    6. Prepare outcome and impact assessment of agriculture interventions.
    7. Prepare the budget, financial reports, and manage the expenditure of the projects efficiently.
    8. Coordinate with the finance & administration department regarding invoices, contracts, payments, and fund utilization certificates
    9. Develop and maintain close working relationships with government officers, KVKs, community leaders in villages, grassroots organizations and likeminded NGOs
    10. Prepare information and communications materials pamphlets, banners, booklets, and training manuals in Hindi and English on agriculture and allied activities for team members and farmers
    11. Remain abreast of government policies and programs.
    12. Any other responsibility assigned by management as per the requirement of the organization.
