Salahuddin Saiphy also spoke at a workshop organised by Young Rainwater Champions, Sri Lanka, during the conference on “Empowering Youth to Lead the Change in Rainwater Harvesting and Water Conservation.” He highlighted that young people are not just beneficiaries but custodians of water resources, and that their energy, creativity, and leadership can help take rainwater harvesting from individual projects to community-wide action.
He emphasised the importance of integrating rainwater harvesting into school and college curricula to encourage young people to become ambassadors for water security. He also highlighted the role of rainwater clubs, competitions, and awards in motivating youth to lead awareness campaigns and make rainwater harvesting a regular part of water conservation practices.
